Tenley Gummelt, M.A., LPC
Hi, I’m Tenley.
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor, and I believe that you deserve to feel seen, understood, and supported in every season of life. I strive to create a warm, welcoming, and non-judgmental space where you can be honest about what you’re experiencing and feel safe exploring the parts of your story that may be difficult to understand or put into words. My hope is that, through our work together, you can experience greater freedom, healing, and hope.
At the heart of my practice is a desire to restore peace and revive hope. I work with adults and adolescents, and tailor my approach to your unique needs and goals. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Brainspotting, incorporating practical tools alongside deeper work to help you move toward healing. As a Christian counselor, my faith is an important part of who I am, and I’m happy to integrate faith into our work when it aligns with your goals and desires for counseling. I also respect clients from different spiritual backgrounds and will meet you wherever you are in your own journey.
Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings, including schools, hospitals, and private practice. I’ve supported adults and adolescents through a wide range of experiences, including trauma, anxiety, depression, shame, grief, family conflict, boundaries, women’s issues, and major life transitions. These experiences have shaped my belief that healing is not one-size-fits-all, and that you deserve an approach that takes your whole story into account.
I’m a proud Texan and have spent most of my life right here in the DFW area. I headed down to Waco for college, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in French from Baylor University, before returning home to earn my master’s degree in Christian Counseling from Dallas Baptist University.
Outside of counseling, I’m a wife and mom to three young children, and much of my favorite time is spent with my family. I’m also a big sports fan (especially Baylor football!), so you’ll probably find me cheering on the Bears whenever I get the chance.
I feel incredibly grateful to do this work and I’m honored to walk alongside people during some of the most difficult, and sometimes most transformative, seasons of their lives.
I believe change can happen, healing is possible, and there is always room for hope.
